Before I attended MTTI, I was working two part time jobs.
One was in food service and the other was at a Power Equipment Company. I had graduated high school and was unsure of what I wanted to do for a career. I didn’t want to pay for a college degree right away. I heard about MTTI Technical Training from one of my co-workers at the Power Equipment Company who had graduated from MTTI. He said that they have all kinds of training programs and I should check the school out.
I had attended a junior college and visited other career schools before I went to tour MTTI’s Computer Service Technician / Network Installer Program.
After I toured the school and met with the instructor, I decided to attend MTTI because, I saw how classroom time was set up to be half study, half hands on training, and the price was right. I really liked the idea of an internship at the end of the program to see how the skills I learned would be used in the work place setting. MTTI offers a supportive environment, they paid for the A+ certification testing, books and uniforms.
I was nervous and excited at the start of school.
It was difficult dealing with traffic sometimes but I continued to show up to school. My parents were supportive and were pushing me to do well. I got along great with my fellow classmates and made some great friends. I secured an internship at Brown University and I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. I was helping in the office, at the help desk, monitored emails, managed printers, servers, and images computers. My supervisor noted that I managed time well and demonstrated a great work ethic. My internship turned into a position. I now work at Brown and couldn’t be happier. At MTTI I learned the basic techniques needed to do the job properly.
I got my A+ Certificate before I graduated and I couldn’t believe I did it.
I graduated from MTTI. I was happy to be done with classes and to have received my Diploma. I have a job, a network of fellow alumni, and am working towards getting my Net + Certifications. I would definitely recommend MTTI to others. MTTI sets you up to succeed in the career of your choice. My life has changed. I am now planning on continuing my education and work toward a degree in computer sciences.
After MTTI I was a temp for a year at the helpdesk in facilities management at Brown.
From there I transitioned to CIS-service and repair where I have been a technician ever since; as of 2016, I continue to work for Brown University.
